About Heyo Beauty

Heyo Beauty started with a simple frustration: too much beauty and wellness advice online is written by people who’ve never actually used what they’re recommending.

Trudy Banks, licensed beautician and founder of Heyo Beauty

Trudy Banks founded the site after more than 15 years working as a licensed beautician — trained at the School of Cosmetology in Zagreb (2006), later earning a Brevet Professionnel Esthétique in France (2010). Somewhere in those years of hands-on professional work, she noticed a pattern: the most heavily advertised products were often the ones that underdelivered, while cheap, unglamorous ingredients quietly outperformed them. That gap between marketing and reality is the reason Heyo Beauty exists. Here, she focuses specifically on skincare with real health considerations — acne, sensitive skin, and treatment-focused routines — many of which she’s tested herself before writing about them.

That standard is easy to hold for skincare. It’s a different matter for nutrition and weight loss — a subject that deserves its own expertise, not borrowed confidence. So when Heyo Beauty started covering weight loss and calorie content, Trudy brought in Chloe MacAllister, a longtime friend with a background she didn’t have herself.

Chloe MacAllister, Certified Sports Nutritionist at Heyo Beauty

Chloe’s path to nutrition started on a volleyball court. A competitive playing career, cut short by repeated injuries, pushed her into fitness training — first to help other athletes stay on the court longer, then into nutrition itself, once she realized how much of an athlete’s performance and recovery actually came down to what they ate. She holds a Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training and a Level 4 Certificate in Nutrition for Sport & Exercise, both from Future Fit Training. Every weight-loss and nutrition article on this site is written or reviewed by her.

Looking for makeup, hair care, or everyday skincare tips? That’s covered in depth by Trudy at Shine & Strand, her sister site — launching soon.

Our Editorial Approach

Every article on Heyo Beauty is written with the following principles:

Honesty first. If a product or approach has limitations, we say so. We do not write exaggerated claims or present unverified information as fact.

Practical over perfect. We focus on advice that is realistic for everyday life, not idealized routines that require hours of time or hundreds of dollars.

Transparency about affiliates. Some articles on this site contain affiliate links, meaning we may earn a small commission if you purchase a product through our link — at no extra cost to you. This never influences which products we recommend or how we write about them. You can read our full Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Health topics handled carefully. Content covering weight loss, nutrition, and skincare is written for general informational purposes. We cite sources where relevant and always recommend speaking with a healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet, supplement use, or medical routine.
